“We don’t ask for our problems, we don’t sit at school and think we want to be like this”
Jenni grew up in a violent household, with her stepdad’s abuse leading her to drugs as a coping mechanism throughout adulthood. Battling manic depression, her life spiralled into chaos until she was referred to HARP. With the support of her key worker, she made remarkable progress in her recovery, addressing the root causes of her homelessness. Jenni has now been drug-free for three years and lives in HARP’s move-on accommodation. She’s an active community member, regularly volunteering and giving back.
“HARP helped me like myself again. They rebuilt me and made me see I’m not a bad person.
Without HARP, I’d be dead or in a doorway somewhere.”
